2023 APLAR-JPVAS Joint International Symposium for Takayasu Arteritis is organized by the collaboration of APLAR Vasculitis Special Interest Group (APLAR Vasculitis SIG) and Japan Research Committee of the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare for Intractable Vasculitis (JPVAS) and It is our great pleasure and honor to serve as the organizers of this symposium.

Takayasu’s arteritis was first reported by Professor Mikito Takayasu in 1908. He later became a professor of the Department of Ophthalmology at Kanazawa University. , Many researchers have devoted themselves to the study of Takayasu arteritis, but no fundamental cure has yet been found. The number of patients with Takayasu arteritis is particularly high in the Asian region, and it is a rheumatic disease on which the APLAR Vasculitis SIG is particularly focusing its efforts.

The symposium, which will be a half-day program, will present the forefront of current Takayasu arteritis research by top Takayasu arteritis researchers. As organizers, we strongly hope that this international symposium will provide an opportunity to share the latest developments in Takayasu arteritis research, create strong connections among researchers, and serve as a new starting point for the next generation treatment and even cure of Takayasu’s arteritis.
